Create a checkout block

Checkout blocks add extra content and options to your checkout page, such as a free shipping progress bar or a way for customers to change their items. You create each block in the app, then add it to your checkout.

The blocks you can create

  • Pre-purchase & upsell offers: show complementary products in the checkout to encourage customers to buy more. See Create an upsell offer.
  • Discount Code Promotion: offer customers a discount to encourage them to complete their purchase.
  • Free Shipping Progress Bar: show customers how far they are from unlocking free shipping.
  • Age Verification: verify your customers' age before they can go on checking out.
  • Line Item Modify: let customers change the variant and quantity of an item in the checkout.
  • Contact Info: show your contact details in the checkout, so customers can contact you directly from there.
  • Banner Image: show a static image in your checkout, based on custom conditions.
  • Social Media Link & Icons: show social media icons in your checkout, based on custom conditions.
  • Payment Icons: show payment icons in your checkout, based on custom conditions.
  • Alert Box: show an alert text in your checkout, based on custom conditions.

Create a line item modify block

This example creates a Line Item Modify block, so customers can change the variant and quantity of an item, or remove it, right in the checkout.

  1. In the app, go to Checkout Blocks and click Manage under Line Item Modify.

The Checkout Blocks page of the app, with Checkout Blocks highlighted in the menu and the Manage button of Line Item Modify highlighted.

  2. Click Create Block.

The Line Item Block page with the Create Block button at the top right.

  3. Enter a Title. Only you see it, not your customers.

The Title field with the note Not displayed to customers.

  4. Under Design Settings, enter the Modify Label Text and the Remove Label Text.

  5. Tick what customers can do in the checkout: Allow customers to change a line item variant, Allow customers to change a line item quantity and Allow customers to remove a line item. Change the label text under each one if you like.

Design Settings with the label text fields and the three Allow customers checkboxes ticked.

  6. Under Advance Settings, choose when the block shows. See Choose when the block shows below.

Advance Settings with five checkboxes, from Show only when specific products are in the cart to Set end date.

  7. Check the preview on the right, then click Save.

The Line Item Block page with the settings on the left, the Preview on the right, and the Save button at the top right.

About the preview: the preview is a simulation. The real colors and fonts show in the live page. You can also open Preview in checkout editor, at the top right of the preview.

Choose when the block shows

Under Advance Settings, tick an option to limit when the block shows.

  • Show only when specific products are in the cart: select the products. The block shows only when those products are in the cart.
  • Minimal amount of products: enter a number. With 2, the block shows only when there are at least 2 products in the cart.
  • Display only for a specific cart value: enter the minimum and maximum cart amount.
  • Show only for specific countries: select the countries.
  • Set start date and Set end date: show the block only for a specific period of time.

Keep in mind: a new block shows in your live checkout only after you add it in the checkout editor. See Show blocks and offers in your live checkout.
